Friday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
Xoco does not like going to work with me.
I may have understated that a little bit. Let me put it in clearer terms.
XOCO HATES GOING TO WORK WITH ME WITH EVERY SINGLE MOLECULE IN HER BODY!
Hmmmm. I am still understating it.
At home, she'd have her sofa (except the electric blanket turns off automatically after a few hours and I haven't figured out a way to get it to turn back on, so she'd spend most of the day without any heat at all). And she'd have light, because I leave the light on for her. And the TV. She loves watching TV. I leave it on PBS for her and she likes that. It's her, the TV, and a cozy sofa, all the food and water she can handle, and no people. The only thing that would make home better would be if Itzl stayed with her.
At work, it's cold (55*F today), dark (saving money by not turning lights on), and no TV. I make her wear sweaters for warmth, and put little yellow booties on her feet when I take her out. (I do that at home, too, when there's ice or snow on the ground, but she's cool with it at home.)
Plus, all these evil strangers walk in and talk and they try to pet her, and SHE'S NOT HAPPY!
The only thing that makes it even mildly tolerable is that she has Itzl with her.
AND THAT"S NOT ENOUGH!!1!
