My thanks to Quarkstomper, Eowyn9 and Ramara (I'll forego thanking myself) each of whom authored a D'var Torah diary during December. Three of our diaries actually made Community Spotlight! So the time has come to ask for volunteers for the month of January:
January 5: Shemot: Torah: Exodus 1:1 to 6:1; Haftarah: Choice of Isaiah 27:6 to 28:13 and 29:22-23, or Jeremiah 1:1 to 2:3.
January 12: Va-era: Torah: Exodus 6:2 to end of chapter 9, and Numbers 28:9-15; Haftarah: Isaiah 66:1-24. (This is Shabbat Rosh Hodesh, the first day of the month of Shevat, and the second Torah reading and reading from Isaiah are special for Rosh Hodesh).
January 19: Bo: Torah: Exodus 10:1 to 13:16. Haftarah: Jeremiah 46: 13-28.
January 26: Beshallach: Torah: Exodus 13-17 to 17:16. Haftarah: Judges 4:4 to 5:31. (This is Shabbat Shirah, the Shabbat of Song, for the Song of the Crossing of the Red Sea and the Song of Deborah. It is also the minor Jewish holiday of Tu BeShevat, the New Year for Trees). JLan
