"I don’t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin."-Savage, Brave New World
Being back In-Country from Asia since December, the adjustment has been shadowed by a smattering of ‘What the Hell Am I Doing Here’ Syndrome, coupled with the confusion of just where the Hell did America go. Like, hey, were my memories of Americana so illusory or is the neo-eco-fascist milk train traveling a lot faster than anybody thought?
And even though I am titled ‘International Political’ dude, perhaps the Editor in Chief thought it might be therapeutic for me to write about simple things, like reality T.V. shows and Rush. Well, this type of therapy could very much be akin to addressing a slight hydrocodone dependence with morphine injections. Hmm. For more on that, you need to consult our man in the know: Rush.
Anyway, I think the Editor was just picking on me.
But this week, there were two anti-epiphanatic events that jarred me from my culture shock lethargy; and one of them just downright pissed me off.
And as a side note, side bar, whatever- my wife is flying in from Singapore early next week so I should really be, ugh, cleaning up a bit, groceries, bank, all that sort of stuff. But… I made the mistake of reading an attachment to an email; hence I am sitting here at a coffee house patio banging away in typically deluded, psychotic fashion. And I have found that no one bothers me when I look like this; supposedly, I do the impulsive, resolved, anger look real well.
Supposedly.
But before we get into the email, let me quickly discuss the other event.
Early this week, about ten a.m., I flicked on the T.V., CNN, thinking I would catch the news. Now I have had this experience before, but for some reason, this time it pushed me over the edge.
For what seemed like twenty minutes, four (yes, four) CNN commentators sat with Lynda Carter, yea, that one: The Wonder Woman. She was being interviewed regarding the launch (or re-launch) of her new singing career. And it took four witless newspeople-wannabes to discuss the details of this globally significant story.
Meanwhile, news regarding plane crashes, bombings, droughts- you know, the unimportant stuff; well it was being flashed at the bottom of the screen.
I mean, they could have had: Prius Size Asteroid Hits Mumbai- and these, these people would have just carried on with Wonder Woman. They even had old footage of the television series. She was chasing some geeky looking (and surely evil) guy. She was fashioned in her sexy, sultry, nauseating Wonder Woman outfit, twirling a golden rope over her athletic yet nimble arms. Eventually, she lassoed the poor guy with her golden rope, end of clip.
“Yea Lynda, that was a fascinating clip. You’ve come such a long way. Just how do you feel when you see yourself as Wonder Woman, now that you’ve become such a big global singing star?”
Well hell, maybe one of them said that, maybe not-
But you get the drift. Gosh, I hope you do.
You know, I could write commentary on this, liken it to what’s wrong with America; like what has happened to a media driven entirely by capitalist powerhouse interests. I could even accuse CNN of choosing the piece to show that they are pro-women, like some management schmuck told his witless wannabes, “Guys, we need to show America that we are on the side of women, and there’s no ‘finer piece of ass’ than Wonder Woman. Now Guys: Go get her!”
I guess maybe the chauvinist bigot still had some prepubescent hard-on for the Lynda Carter of old.
Ugh, dude, it’s 2014 you idiot.
Anyway, what else can anyone say or write about it?
Welcome to the bizarre gazebo: The weather is sunny and mild, the beams and lattices are freshly painted, the glass of ice tea so delicious- and all of us here are absolutely crazy as batshit.

And then, and then, there is some brain-trust political writer named Matt Patterson.
Just a note: Unlike so many people that proudly brag, “Oh, I’m just so busy, I can’t get to all my emails.” (‘cause they are just so, so important- getting all those mails from Wal-Mart, weight loss warehouses, and penile implant factories.)
Well, I try to read mine, and not that I get that many, you know? I just think it’s the responsible th.. never mind.
So anyway, somebody sends me this email, and God help him; he actually likes this guy Matt Patterson, and shows an article that he apparently wrote and had published for the Washington Post (whether he really did or not, who cares; it’s all over the web if my sender got hold of it).
So here’s the first section:
Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages.
How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job? Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.
God help me I shouldn’t have read this.
You know, I fault Obama on his lack of decisive action on Wall Street, privacy issues, drone issues, the continuance of costly, bully policies on the international stage, Afghanistan. But that’s pretty much it; and even those problems are primarily Congress-driven and much less by the Executive branch.
But get a clue Matt: Ye doth protest too much.
You showed us your hand; you gave us a tell.
And in so doing, we know what you are: A cowardly, pathetic racist.
And one of the most dangerous sort.
It is so tiring that the news (or any of us for that matter) have paid credence to Obama’s citizenship status (so mouthed by that ego-driven Himmlerite in Arizona) or continued accusations of being Muslim…. frankly, any of it. If somebody espouses an almost pathological hate for Obama, we all know what it is really about: They hate him because he’s black.
And on recent occasions, when I have found myself in the company of fascists, listening to their ‘politics,’ I have gone to great lengths to get these sad people to own up to their racism. And what always makes it such a winnable argument is that it is the truth.
So Matt, time for you to belly-up to the Bigot Bar: You are a racist through and through.
………..Hmm. I guess this is the audience Matt Patterson is playing to:
The fat, dishonest, depressed, oppressed, isolated, ignorant, and just so, so connected masses-
Forever lassoed to the debt train, forever enticed to the main, all the while distracted and scared shitless for themselves.
Wonder Woman would be proud.
And Matt? I’d sure like to meet you honey.
