The article should have started with this:
"Emboldened by the failure of Mitt Romney, inarguably the worst Republican candidate for president in recent memory, Texas governor Rick Perry is empty-suiting up for a 2016 bid on the White House, that promises to be so blindingly white, the Secret Service will not be the only ones wearing heavy-duty sunglasses.
Determined to push through a platform in Texas that was roundly rejected by the nation in 2012, aides admit that the White House is in his peripheral vision, inasmuch as he lacks the more straight-forward mammalian vision. Don't underestimate the lizard vote."
But no:
Rick Perry national ambitions
Aside from Jon Huntsman, the Republicans who vied for the GOP nom in 2012 were like markers on a scale of buffoonery, with Perry the acme.
Apparently, this has absolutely no effect on their ambitions. Only strengthens them.
There has been a range of discussion on a certain segment of voters who cling to god and guns, vote against their own self interest, etc. etc.
But I always think of this study that came out early in our 21st century that explained it more succinctly:
Incompetent People Really Have No Clue
All's you have to do, if you have no clue, is double-down.
