but the Senate is responsible for making a deal?
Article after article reports that 'Congress' is at fault if no deal is reached, but only the Senate is responsible for making a deal.
This is a setup for blame in January.
I can predict, because of this wording by every media outlet this past month, that the Senate and therefor Democrats will get all of the blame if a deal isn't reached.
How does this keep happening?
Even diarists here on DK, who I know to be progressive, have fallen for this verbiage.
Blaming all of congress for the possible failure is fair, but making only the Senate responsible for making a deal will ensure that only the Senate will get the blame.
I've seen the polls over the past month. Republican blame has dropped from 63% a month ago to 50% last week. And Rasmussen had that number down to 44% on the 27th.
This reduction in Republican blame is gaining momentum and just confirms everything that's been happening.
I watch it happen each day.
The very same news outlet will report a change in a poll by 5% or more in one week and not even question those numbers.
How does this occur? Is there a written memo from the CEO that approves a Polly's results but not a discussion about that poll or why it's so different from the week before?
It's truly fascinating.
