My dad has a limerick for all seasons and occasions. He is pretty old now (89) but he can still whip out a limerick of surprising and humorous relevance when least expected.
I'm sorry to say that I do not have his knack for limerick retention, but I can compose 'em when necessary. That's why I contributed one to a political limerick thread More [Limerick] Reasons To Say "Good Riddance, 2012" started by cassandracarolina.
My contribution was this:
Re: Washington's famed fiscal cliff
I detect much more than a riff
of razamatazz
and all that jazz
and stuff I would rather not whiff.
And then I had a thought and made a discovery.
I learned that you can fit a standard size limerick like mine in less than the 140 characters -- making it tweetable!
So I tweeted mine. Then I discovered that there does not seem to be a hashtag for limericks, let alone political limericks. So let's create one! It has to be very short. But I would guess that if we create it, the political limerick writers will come.
