llbear's quilt, basted
llbear's quilt, basted for quilting

Our friend, michelwin, has had a very rough road for some years now.  She's been through job loss, caregiving for a mother who was very ill, and handling her mother's final affairs in difficult family circumstances.  Her most recent ordeal was particularly horrendous.  She buried her brother and made his house ready for sale -- which meant cleaning under difficult circumstances:

I have arthritis and C.O.P.D. and it was hard being in that old house. It was hard to breath. The whole house needed to be cleaned from top to bottom. My brother had been deeply depressed and nothing had been done in the house since I did it a year earlier. In addition there was blood and feces to clean up in the bathroom, hallway, his room and the family room from his last illness and fall. Not feeling well physically does not help depression.
Michelewin is very tired, exhausted from all she has endured.  Let us lift her up with a community quilt, one filled with loving words from friends.

Dusty insisted on checking llbear's quilt for comfort

What is a community quilt?  It is more than just a blanket for it carries messages from you transcribed by me in archival ink on muslin.  Leave loving words for michelewin in the comments below and I will put them in her quilt.  They will give her support any time she feels she needs it.  This quilt will remind her of all her friendships in this community and will lift her heart.

If you can help with the cost of making the quilt, here is a PayPal link -- or message me for an address if you prefer to send a check.  $10/message is suggested -- although some people give more to cover for messages from people who cannot afford to donate.  My sister and I make our living making these quilts and we do appreciate your support.  We are $11 and 5 messages short for this quilt.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
