The Media will slant this in the next 2 months. I say let's set the terms of the discussion ourselves.

I just made this. It's a poor quality clipping path, but hey, I ain't going for the Museums here. If it speaks to you, please copy it and spread it around. Or make a better (or worse) one with the same point and spread it around. Please.

Here's why it exists:

The President has resolved to stand firm on the Debt Ceiling: no negotiations.
Senate Majority Leader Reid has said he will back the President all the way.
Representative Pelosi has said she will back the President all the way.

Republican House Leader Boehner has said he will plunge the nation into deeper economic crisis if he doesn't get cuts to the Elderly, the Disabled, the Veterans, and basically the entire social safety-net.

In effect, he'll hold America hostage.

I want to say with the President, Sen. Reid, and Rep. Pelosi, that there will be no cuts to the safety net, and no negotiations. End of discussion. I'm hoping this illustration of the situation will help clarify the issues involved in the hostage scenario.

Please help inform your circle, and encourage those people to inform their circles about what's going on in DC. Thank you.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
