Hello, Puzzlers!
The first potluck of 2013. I hope you're hungry, we've got a lot of great things on our potluck table, but there's always room for more! We're a glutton for puzzles around here, and we might as well indulge, since we are all keeping our diet, exercise, quit smoking, whatever, resolutions. Puzzles are calorie-free!

A puzzle from Old Phart! He says:
I really miss the puzzle sessions but most of our evenings have been tied up lately...
Best to you and the rest of the puzzle gang!
And here is his puzzle:
small trout sheep A horse white birds large deer.....
OldPhart also provided a clue (which I've put in reversed text for the benefit of those who'd like to tackle this clueless: "DAER NAHT GNUS RETTEB")
And, here's some one-offs from Nova:
Here's a set of seven One-Off puzzles.
One-Offs are puzzles in which I take familiar phrases and change one letter in one word to make a new phrase. I then write a paraphrase of the new phrase in which I try to avoid using any words from either the original or altered phrase. Your challenge is to take the paraphrases I provide and guess what the original and altered phrases are.
The alteration may be one of three things: an added letter, a subtracted letter, or a substituted letter. I won't tell you which one I've used in the different entries -- but I will tell you, in parentheses at the end of the entry, how many words are in the altered phrase.
[NOTE: while I am only permitted to change one letter, I am allowed to change punctuation and capitalization to my heart's content. I may also add or subtract spaces, so that what's one word in the original phrase may become two in teh altered phrase or vice versa. I don't do this often, though -- and when I do I provide in parentheses the number of words in the original phrase followed by the number of words in the altered phrase.]
