Go to minute :40 and hear Joe Walsh tell his Tea Party gathering that he will end his speech with a CALL TO ARMS. He actually begins the speech with the words "Call to Arms"
Here's the video of his speech
Incendiary much? I don't think this behavior should be taken lightly, quite frankly.
You can read some details about the event here.
Apparently Joe, a trained actor btw, pulls out all the stops for this speech given to less than 100 Tea Party followers in Chicago.
His voice inflections are off the charts as are his body language. I could be wrong, but I think Joe was aiming at a character somewhere between a high octane, hell-fire Baptist Minister and a Gung Ho Your-Country-Needs-You-Now military recruiter.
I'll let you be the judge.
For those who would prefer to avoid the entire 33 minute clip, here are what I thought were the hot spots in the speech.
Joe's voice inflection explodes at minutes :41, 18.22, 20:34, 28:04, 28:43, 30:04, and 31:12 and 33:24 which is his last word recorded.
Again, Joe Walsh states "We will end with a CALL TO ARMS" at minute :42 and the audience responds "Good"
Joe used the word REVOLUTION at minute 19:32
He tells the group to "To win, grab what you can, be ready for war" at 21:08 - 21:20
"To treat it like a REVOLUTION" 27:53
After several minutes of talking about how "they" had to gain more seats in elections in order to save the country for the grandchildren he states:
"We may not be able to wait" 29:19
"I'd advise us all to stay focused on CLEANSING and PURGING the party" 29:23
At around 29:33 Joe refers to his notes and addresses Obamacare, while carefully avoiding he words birth control and abortion.
At 31:04 - 31:49 Joe uses fear to promote gun ownership.
He slams the EPA and regulations at 31:48
And, while chuckling, states
"This country is going to tip" at 32:16
What does he mean by tip?
At 32:20 Joe Walsh concludes:
"We are at the point.... this will scare all my Democrat and Republican friends,.....
WE HAVE TO BE where...... Prepared to get serious and TO DEFY AND BREAK THE LAW AND ENGAGE IN REAL CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE."
Followed by loud applause.
"You had better be ready" Joe warns,
"It's been done before in this country.
"We need to prepare to do it now to, I'm not going to say defend, I'm not going to say hold onto, I'm going to say we have to do it now, to SAVE" 33:03
Joe yells the word SAVE and the video ends.
Within the speech, Walsh lists out the democratic process which he states could take years for the Tea Party to fix the "government takeover" which he quickly follows with "we may not be able to wait"
I will let you form your opinions if you care to listen to the whole speech.
My opinion? I wonder how many of these meetings are taking place around the country? Is this firing up a revolutionary spirit responsible? Who is paying Joe?
If Mr. Walsh doesn't have high aspirations for leadership (which he says he's doesn't in the video), he may want to tamp down his rhetoric and rethink some of his blatant dog whistles.
In fact, Joe Walsh might want to ask himself if he is purposefully asking people to take up arms, start a revolution in order to "purge and cleanse." Does he have any knowledge of history and what these words can mean?
Then again, RON PAUL used the word REVOLUTION freely:
At minute 12:04
You can click here to read Ron Paul's The Revolution: A Manifesto
In Chapter 7, Paul writes:
The fact is, liberty is not given a fair chance in our society, neither in the media, nor in politics, nor(especially) in education.
I have spoken to many young people during my career, some of whom had never heard my ideas before. But as soon as I explained the philosophy of liberty and told them a little American history in light of that philosophy, their eyes lit up.
Here was something they’d never heard before, but something that was compelling and moving, and which appealed to their sense of idealism. Liberty had simply never been presented to them as a choice.
We are engaged in a great battle of ideas, and the choices before us could not be clearer. I urge those who agree with this important message to educate themselves in the scholarship of liberty. Read some of the books Irecommend in my reading list.
There are a lot of ardent Ron Paul followers out there. Would they move further to the right and join the Tea Party?
It appears that C Steven Tucker recorded this video of Joe Walsh.
C Steven Tucker seems to be Joe Walsh's videographer.
He videographed this campaign video of Walsh's supporters marching in a parade. Joe does a spazzy dance at minute 2:24 seemingly caught up in the euphoria of the event. Steve chuckles.
Mr. Tucker didn't capture this classic Joe Walsh moment where he screams, points his finger and yells "You need to leave" to one of his constitutuents.
