More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

the DVD, Wagner's Dream, which is basically a documentary on the creation of the most recent production of Wagner's Der Ring Des Nibelungen at the Met.  I just watched it since I ran out of Cagney and Lacey episodes on Hulu.

I've seen the whole cycle on the HD simulcast.  Stunning.  But I have to say -- the creative process involved in this cycle is pure genius.

I don't care what the critics or old fogies have said -- Robert LePage's "Machine" and concept is brilliant.  Now to put aside the $$ to buy the production on DVD.  16 plus hours of gorgeous music needs frequent attention.

or with a less depressing ending?

even the Reginald Goodall English version.  No one can really understand opera even in their native language.

Yeah -- $140 is out of my price range right now.  Of course, for the 4 operas in simulcast I paid a total of $100.

After my California visit, I'll put my cigarette money aside for this production.  Next month is my 1 year anniversary and I owe myself a big gift.  $140 is a hell of a lot less than I spent in a month on fags.

That might actually make it worth while for someone like me.

You're worth it gchaucer2,  indulge yourself.

Congratulations on your impending 1 year anniversary.

After awhile, you won't even pay attention to the subtitles.  The acting at the Met is so amazing you will be able to just enjoy the music.

Just pull up Siegried's Funeral March on YouTube -- incredible.  I want that played when they roll me down the hill into the compost pile.

  •  It is another Saturday morning (0+ / 0-)

    or it was earlier today

normally my Saturday morning reflections are primarily drawn from my teaching

today's is somewhat different, because there are other things on my mind

I do not know if it will speak to anyone

I only know that I felt compelled to write it

    read it if you want

    If not I will understand

If so, you can read it here

    Peace

This is my second post (my first was to post a picture of Canada's million dollar gold coin in a "mint the coin thread)

and I wanted to officially say "hi!"

I also wanted to tell y'all that when last in Juarez international airport in Mexico city (the day before yesterday, don'cha know), I found that Newsweek LIED about suspending their print edition. I got a copy of the Jan 13th issue of the international edition, which had a long letters section talking about their final issue, which had been published a couple of weeks before.

    This one's a keeper.

No wonder my fingers are so damn cold. I passed within 50 feet of a perched Bald Eagle and 20 feet of a wading Blue Heron without disturbing either one.

Electing people who don't believe in government to Congress, is like installing an atheist as pastor of a church. If they don't believe in the institution or its goals, they won't care if it does a good job for its members.

  •  speaking of going mad; Trump is suing Maher (0+ / 0-)

or at least has threatened to
    http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/...
Seems that Maher thinks Trump's offer to Obama of $5M to prove he (Obama) is an American citizen is funny, so much so he offered Trump $5M to prove his (Trump's) daddy is not an orangutang.  Mr. Trump responded by sending Maher his birth certificate and a demand for specific performance on the "bet"

This is hilarious as Trump as Birther in Chief has refused all sorts of documentation regarding Obama's birth place and now expects his BC to prove he is not a monkey's uncle.  Sorry Donald, submit the DNA.  Show us the DNA.  America has a right to know as nonhuman parentage would bar him from aspiring from the office of POTUS.
