If we are we better get our act together. I am not sure that the President knows that he is dealing with a massive form of insanity.  The stuff the republicans have been doing is not the behavior of rational people.  By "rational" here I am talking about the ability to be in touch with the real world.  They have gone through a myriad of actions that show clearly that they are very sick people.  You know the litany.  Obama is a Muslim, rape is an act of some god, etc.  etc.  They can justify hate and even murder because they have some book they can leaf through to find justification  I have a very strong feeling that we do not really understand our role in this.  Yes that is an arrogant statement.  I have earned my right to be arrogant.  Read on below and find out what gives me this right.

First of all let us look at mass suicide.

Mass suicide sometimes occurs in religious or cultic settings. Defeated groups may resort to mass suicide rather than being captured. Suicide pacts are a form of mass suicide unconnected to cults or war that are sometimes planned or carried out by small groups of frustrated people. Mass suicides have been used as a form of political protest.
None of these things by themselves are a one on one match to our present situation but use your imagination and you should get my point.

It gets sicker.  What is our role in all this?  Once again I ask you to bear with me for I am again going o use an old, well established idea to jump into new territory.  This time it is a well known psychological idea called  codependency.

Codependency is defined as a psychological condition or a relationship in which a person is controlled or manipulated by another who is affected with a pathological condition (typically narcissism or drug addiction); and in broader terms, it refers to the dependence on the needs of or control of another. It also often involves placing a lower priority on one's own needs, while being excessively preoccupied with the needs of others. Codependency can occur in any type of relationship, including family, work, friendship, and also romantic, peer or community relationships.Codependency may also be characterized by denial, low self-esteem, excessive compliance, or control patterns. Narcissists are considered to be natural magnets for the codependent.
We all know that human psychology is not an exact science. I hope we all know that it can give us insight into the dynamics of relationships between persons.  Its projection into social systems takes a lot more.  Yet we may be experiencing something unique and very revealing at this time.

The republican party seems to be in the control of some very sick losers.  But that group seems to be a part of a wider group of very sick people.  I am using "sick" again and again for a reason.  I do not wish for an instant to give this the credibility of some sort of political debate as the press seems to thrive on.  No, this i a group out of touch with reality.

This is an important and sticky point.  For if I am correct than we are in some kind of codependent relationship with them.  They will drag us down with them if they must rather than ever admit that they were wrong.

I don't know about you but I do not want to play this game.  We have had enough.  They put the gun to our collective heads and we capitulate again and again.  No more!  It is time to stop this insanity.  I do not want to go down with them.

Our President has hard choices to make.  I hope he understands this.  It is not politics any more.  It is survival!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
