This is my fantasy letter for VPOTUS to reply to this drivel.

"Politicians are attempting to exploit the deaths of innocent victims by advocating for laws that would prevent honest, law abiding Americans from possessing certain firearms and ammunition magazines,"

Sheriff Tim Mueller wrote in the letter dated January 14, 2013.

"Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Linn County, Oregon.

Dear Linn County Board of Commissioners.

RE:  Crazed letter from Sheriff Mueller, January 14, 2013

Your sheriff has lost his mind.  Please remove him from office for the safety of the public.

All off and on ramps for Interstate 5 though your county, all off and on ramps for Highways 20 and 126 will be closed until your county wishes to elect a sheriff who will comply with federal laws.

Your Friend.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

My parents' hometown of record is in Linn County.  That's where they lived when all of their children were born.

I can't say I'm surprised at this - I still remember some of the people my parents grew up with, for that matter, some of their kids that I grew up with....  Good gawd.

in and near Albany.  When the pulp mill closed a thousand good jobs vanished but now it doesn't stink quite so bad.  They're trying to gussy up downtown.  We've been trying to get some progressives on that City Council and had a couple voted in, now and then.

But there may be something bad in the water there.  Steven-King-novel bad.  Because Linn County harbors industrial-strength crazy.  Like this sheriff.

We don't need Highway 20 anyway.  The State botched that repair job so bad, seven lost years now because of undiscovered historic landslides, the route straightening may never be finished.

Orly, it isn't evidence just because you downloaded it from the internet.
