In a few minutes I have to pop out to the local Tag Agency.
It's about two miles away and I have a car and a motorcycle whose tags expired at the end of December.
We have a thirty day "grace" period where the cops might stop you for expired tags, but they won't ticket for that. Anyway, I hate the end of the month queues so I usually leave it a week (or so).
It occurred to me that if I owned any guns, it would be merely a matter of moments to renew the license and/or registration of those too, at the same time. A couple of bucks per firearm should about cover it and they could check the insurance at the same time, just like they do for the car.
And your problem with that is?
I mean ... If public safety is a concern you share, just what is the part of this that infringes your right to keep and bear arms?
