the following is what i would advise elected GOP'rs and those who are interested in being candidates to do in the next electoral cycle, that being said i totally encourage the party bigwigs to completely ignore it.

Subjects to Avoid
1:LGBT rights/Marriage Equality-the electorate is becoming more and more accepting of gay people. Remember when Ellen came out & lost her show and was on the cover of time? well jokes on the haters because she's basically the white Oprah now....I mean who doesn't like Ellen? the fact is that screaming about how treating gay people like normal people will be a harbinger of the destruction of civilization makes about as much sense to people today as screaming about the dangers of communism. simply put the well has run dry and frankly the sooner they realize this the better.

2:Women's health/reproductive healthcare
this has been covered far better&spoken more eloquently here on kos and elsewhere in progressive blogosphere, so i will say whatever you do, never say anything that is in the slightest way reminiscent to the following "gem":http://youtu.be/...

3:Guns-I'll lay this out plainly:I don't want to take away your guns, i just want to be able to leave my house without having to worry about getting pumped full of lead. there is no legitimate reason for civilian's to have military grade assault weapons or 100 round ammo clips. to reiterate: there is absolutely no legitimate reason be it for defense, hunting or sport shooting purposes for civilians to have access to such high powered weapons and high capacity clips.

these are just a few of the things that come to mind:more to come:)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

Take a page from Rick Perry in his last campaign for Governor of Texas: don't deign to acknowledge your opponent by agreeing to debate.

Bachmann, Paul, Brewer, LePage, Walker and Co? Encourage them. Keep them talking. Every time they open their mouths, a Moderate Republican gets his/her wings.

The President is a foreigner, a Muslim and a Negro. Keep using those three words. Often.

Keep David Brooks on your payroll. Along with people like Wayne LaPierre, who's name sounds vaguely foreign, Canadian, even.

Don't let those Liberals get you down. Keep doubling down against your own constituency who says you're unpopular.

Oh, and most of all, keep opening your mouths.

  •  Drop your real principle and embrace the fake ones (0+ / 0-)

    Dear GOP:

What would you be like if you actually believed in individual responsibility and opportunity? You'd have a completely different set of policy proposals.

What would you be like if you let go of the Pole Star of your party and overcame your fear of "blah people"?

Become what you pretend to be. Cease being what you really are.

  •  If They Were Really Interested In Winning....... (0+ / 0-)

they would get out from under FOX News.  It gives them & their base a false sense of security.....much like the polls Mitt Romney relied on.

They should also divest themselves of Louie Gohmert & some of the other dullards who are blithering idiots.

Just not mentioning "rape" isn't the answer either.  They actually have to start seeing it as an assault, a crime, a horror & realize women don't really secrete stuff to prevent them from getting pregnant w/ a rapists child.

Then they could quit gerrymandering, suppressing votes, red mapping & being all out "a" holes.

  •  As someone correctly observed, America has (0+ / 0-)

a Conservative party and a fascist party.  I suggest the GOP go the way of their founder and the Democratic Party return to it's greatest standard bearer and then maybe this country would have a chance to survive what is looking like a bleak future.
