Oklahoma legislators are so very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very stupid.

I need an extra strong jaw sling to keep my poor jaw from slamming into the ground every time our legislators introduce new bills into our legislature.

This session, they have introduced a couple of bills that either declare Federal regulation of guns unconstitutional or declare that the Federal government has no Constitutional authority to regulate the manufacture or sale of guns made in Oklahoma and sold in Oklahoma.

They totally forget that the guns may not stay in Oklahoma after that first sale. The Federal government has a great deal of interest in interstate commerce. What they are begging for with this  is for Oklahoma to be placed under international commerce laws, with border checkpoints all around the state border when Oklahoma made guns cross the state border.

With no Federal regulation, would you buy an Oklahoma made gun?  I wouldn't.  I know some gunsmiths in Oklahoma and I wouldn't trust any of them to not cut corners for a profit. They need Federal oversight in the manufacture of weapons. We, as a society and country, need Federal oversight in many areas for consistency in quality.

And then there are the bills being introduced this session to arm teachers.

Oh dear ghods!

I do not want more guns in schools.

We have 2 anti-evolution bills being introduced under the guise of "freedom of scientific education". More like freedom from scientific education.

We have more than 2,000 bills being filed and not one of them appears to actually improve the lives of Oklahomans.

There's a ballot access bill.  Really?  Oklahoma has the best ballot system in the country. Why do we need a bill that will restrict access to the polls? Oh wait, they want to make sure the 11 Democratic votes in the state don't get to vote again.

Those darned "personhood" bills are back.

Our legislators are wasting our tax dollars on this tripe.

Oh, please, send me 5 or 6 extra strength jaw slings!  I don't want to break my jaw when it keeps dropping from incredulity.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
