I Almost Forgot that a simple idea presented on a blog, is always ignored.
It is sliced, diced, chewed at, laughed at, and then, ultimately, sent to Siberia to be forgotten.
To the dozens who wrote in to respond to my idea, not a single person actually understood, or worse, tried to understand the simple idea. I'm not sure why, but I feel compelled to try this one more time, and explain why it is so difficult to get even a simple idea past people who visit this site every day.
In order to ever defeat the NRA, you have to first defeat the people in congress who represent them. A boycott of certain districts with certain products is a proven idea that has worked before. It inspires attention and action from representatives of that district. There is nothing more in the post than that.
What I forgot was that Daily Kos readers will do almost anything to ignore even a simple idea, even consider a simple idea.
Instead, what they do, is have some silly fun at the poster's expense. They get caught up in spelling, in syntax, in things that barely relate to what the post was trying to do.
Based on the responses, one cannot even be sure the post was even read by any of the responders, as this simple idea was completely misinterpreted, that is, if it was read at all.
But one cannot lose hope. One has to believe there is a single individual out there who can see a decent idea and perhaps build on it and make it into something that even Daily Kos readers might understand for what it is.
So, let's see if we can pay attention to the idea and not play gotcha with a lot of stupidity that bloggers get caught up in every day.
The NRA is a business. They are strategic. They have elected congressional representatives. A good way to defeat the NRA, perhaps the only way, is to try to get back control of these representatives, or, at least, get them to consider some tough circumstances for their district if they continue to vote against sensible gun control.
I dropped out of Kos for three years for the simple reason that people don't really read any ideas. They respond with vitriol and try to out-do one another ignoring any thought that originally went into an idea.
I suppose I have to drop out again. I'll send my idea to people who might, might at least read it carefully, and then respond to it.
That certainly isn't this blog.
I will say this.
Shame on you for dithering and making fun while kids are being murdered. You need to find something better to occupy your time.
One more thing. Yes, spelling is easy.
Coming up with ideas that might help this terrible situation is not.
