Thursday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
So, Monday I got to watch way more TV commercials than I've seen in a long time, because I was watching the Inauguration. It's the 12th Inauguration I've watched.
And I am somewhat concerned about the mean commercials I saw. People hitting one another calling one another names, playing mean tricks on one another, insulting the person for not conforming...
The commercials that weren't mean were either stupid or assumed the viewer was stupid.
No wonder so much of society is messed up if the commercials are that messed up.
I'm feeling rather nostalgic for the commercials of yesteryear - Skittles: Taste the Rainbow! Those were great commercials.
And the Green Giant commercials from the 60's - if you watch this commercial long enough, you'll see that they used to give out Green Giant dolls. I still have the one I sent in my labels for. I found it while cleaning. It's a bit worse for wear, as the children all played with it. But I still have it.
Or the Peter Max commercials...
DO you have a favorite commercial?
