Like a lot of people I'm pretty pissed about Harry Reid and his complete failure to reform the filibuster like he promised.
But we have to get real here, Washington is ruled by big money. It's pay to play, and winning is securing a safe district and a broad donor base. When 94% of the time the candidate with more money wins, in order to win you end up serving the donors and not your constituents.
If the filibuster is changed, then the senate has to actually do things, and they don't want to. The status quo is good for business, check the stock market. Check out the effects of the latest budget deals with the Republicans. The filibuster gives great political cover to the democrats right now and the ability to point the finger while helping the republicans rob us blind.
We need serious campaign finance reform if progressives are ever going to win on progressive issues, as well as an end to gerrymandering in the house.
