What could be worse than this?

Having to see two Rand Pauls!

If we needed any more confirmation of conservatives' utter stupidity in claiming that SoS Hillary Clinton's concussion and subsequent hospitalization was a scam to avoid testifying at the Benghazi! hearings, it has now been confirmed that her eyeglasses are fitted with a Fresnel lens.

And given the utter pwning that Hillary gave Sen. Rand Paul (demonstrating a rich fantasy life by starting his question with the phrase 'Had I Been President'), Republicans were completely deluded to have thought Secretary Clinton would even need to find a way to avoid their 'tough questioning'.

The New York Daily News first speculated on the source of the tiny vertical lines seen on Secretary Clinton's right eyeglass lens.

Eye experts told the New York Daily News it is likely she has had an adhesive Fresnel prism placed on her glasses.
'If she's wearing a Fresnel prism, then she has double vision without it,' said Dr Mark Fromer, medical director at Fromer Eye Centers.
Professor Dan Reinstein, from the London Vision Clinic, told MailOnline that double vision occurs when both eyes are receiving good images individually, but the alignment of the eyes is not exactly parallel, causing the brain to interpret the images as coming from different positions.
'Fresnel prisms can be used to compensate for the deviation between the eyes,' he explained.
Professor Reinstein said the Secretary of State's fall could have affected the muscles that control the movement of her eyes.
'If indeed Secretary Clinton is wearing a Fresnel prism, and if indeed this is related to what has been described as a result of her recent unfortunate fall, this would imply the head injury may have affected her extraocular muscle balance,' he said.
The speculation has been now been confirmed by a spokesperson for Clinton.
Clinton's spokesman confirmed Thursday night she is wearing the special glasses as a result of the fall and concussion she suffered last month, but he did not elaborate.
Experts told the Daily News that Clinton likely has a Fresnel prism placed on her glasses. The adhesive panel is used to treat double vision.
The hearings were an actual opportunity to learn something about the attack and national security. But instead,  Rand Paul used his time to advance a  Glenn Beck inspired Turkey-Syria gunrunning conspiracy theory.

As Dave Weigel of Slate elaborated, they squandered their best opportunity to get some actual information out of the hearings.

I dread to think what would have happened to the Republicans, had Secretary Clinton not been 'fighting' with one proverbial hand tied behind their back.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
