A lot of people commented about accidental shootings at gun shows last week.
Well, here's another one to add to the list:
Update: Man accidentally shoots himself at Des Moines gun show
An Iowa gun dealer was hospitalized after he accidentally shot himself in the hand before a gun show Friday afternoon at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
The 54-year-old St. Charles resident told police he was showing off a .25 caliber pistol he thought was unloaded when he slid the action of the gun causing it to fire. The bullet went through his left palm, according to a Polk County Sheriff’s report.
If you go to the link, you'll note that when police investigated, they found another of the dealer's guns on his display was also loaded.
We can't even keep people from accidentally shooting themselves or each other at gun shows, where presumably people have some knowledge of the proper use and care of such things. How, exactly, is this all going to work in a school full of children?
Oh, by the way -- opening weekend of shotgun deer season back in December here in Iowa, five people were shot. Heck, I'll give ya a link for that one, too:
Five Iowa hunters shot in first weekend of deer season
So, are we going to require substitute teachers to BYOG or will the districts have loaners they can check out at the office for them when they show up for their assignments?
