Readers & Book Lovers Series Schedule
Passions are running higher than usual,
here at Daily Kos.
Not just the gun debate,
but also the man in the hospital,
on the edge of death.
When folks feel pain,
they strike out at anyone,
anyone who offends them a tiny bit,
since a tiny offence,
to anyone already feeling frustration and pain,
feels like a knife,
cutting deep,
and becomes a trigger for angry words,
angry words on the computer screen.
Some say they must step away,
and that's understandable.
Some say Daily Kos is broken.
I do not agree.
For example,
we have a poetry group here,
and I was made the editor.
I'm not broken,
my fellow poets aren't broken,
poetry still flows.
I'm trying to reach out
and ask others to try.
I want to tell everyone:
don't think of poetry as this other thing;
see poetry in the words of others,
see the flow,
see the careful choice of words,
feel the subtle personality of others,
and yourself,
in the words on the screen;
it's all poetry;
you just need to look for it;
you just need to see it.
Thanks for reading.
