Right now, the Corporatocracy in the U.S. is firmly entrenched, bonded by shared interests between oligopolistic corporations, the seat of state and national government, and much of the judiciary.
It took decades for all this to come together, but the Corporatocracy is finally here. The "owners" are now in the process of establishing an oppressive legal and security framework as a means to enforce their rule over an obedient citizenry.
The most powerful tool the Corporatocracy has over the population is the ability to manipulate us to such a level trough their wholesale ownership of the mainstream media, that it can actually be considered mind-control:
Without an awareness of the grave consequences involved with an increasingly concentrated media environment the public (i.e. non-elites) will continue to be systematically brainwashed by the propagandist arm of the government that is the mass media and will unknowingly acquiesce to the interests of the dominant elites.
- Master's Degree Thesis by Frank McCoy
As the oppressive and exploitative system is put in place, the "designers" are so confident that the populace will not be able to figure this out, that they have focused on cementing their control over the media (with is the most powerful tool at their disposal), and in the imposition of an increasingly draconian and unjust (corrupt) legal system, whose functions are being transferred to the private, for-profit sector.
Typically, in this type of situation, you have a very tiny group of people that are able to see what's happening--in horror. These are the activists, and agitators of every generation. As the fascistic-like system comes to life, some of these activists spend years trying to warm the population, which almost always remains dormant (until is too late).
In these conditions, some activists become "radicalized" and may attempt to take on the system through violence (or armed revolution). These activists and leaders may be able to recruit a limited number of people who are willing to confront the system head-on, either through protests, civil disobedience, or even armed confrontation (in extreme situations).
The fascistic system that is now rising right before our eyes is ready for this. Through a massive misinformation and propaganda campaign, the system is able to marginalize those who are trying to warn the people about what's going on; and through an increasingly draconian legal system, which includes total-information-awareness surveillance police state, it is also able to squash resistance.
Another sign of a rising fascistic system is the further marginalization and criminalization of poverty. One of the most powerful and effective strategies the rulers use is to ghettoize those who are either victims of the system, or those who rise in opposition.
There is a long history of this type of strategy used throughout Latin America, deployed by the CIA, and the U.S. government on behalf of corporations.
Now the same strategy is being deployed on the citizens of the United States, by the same nefarious forces.
Where does the system gets its power from? The most important source of power for the rulers is their ability to convince the citizens that the only viable economic system is one where the vast majority of the gains from productivity is transferred directly to the leisure class. This is done through the establishment of closely-linked oligopolies, which creates powerful financial cartels that are then able to buy off the entire government--which is the current situation in the United States.
So if one were to analyze the economic system, one could clearly determine that there is an inordinate amount of wealth being transferred from each community, from each working man and woman, to the rulers. This wealth is then is put to work to further oppress and control the population.
The widespread understanding of these dynamics would be the most powerful threat to the corrupt Corporatocracy that is now in control of the country.
The reason for this is that the system assumes that their control over the minds of the populace is so absolute, that the chances for millions and millions of people to conceptualize this situation are almost non-existent.
The most daunting challenge for those trying to awaken the population is to convince a large-enough number of average middle class people to take seemingly safe, careful, and measured steps, which if calibrated correctly, could send shock-waves through the entire system, and eventually start to weaken the Corporatocracy.
So the key is to find ways to de-fund the Corporatocracy, which after all, it is being kept alive through the fruit of our labor.
There is already a growing local sustainability movement which if it is carefully-analyzed, one could see that as a whole, it could reshape our entire economic system--for the benefit of the people, which would result in the removal of the Corporatocracy.
It encompasses a wide range of economic activity, including food, housing, banking, employment, markets.
The important thing to understand here is that most of it is actually based on solid economic theory. The problem we have now is that economic "laws" have been turned upside down in a system that's actually inefficient, predatory, and corrupt, for the benefit of a parasitic class.
So what is my proposal? Social justice activists, local sustainability proponents, intellectuals, philosophers, community leaders, workers, and all fair-minded people need to unite now and engage in a very professional and widespread educational campaign around the entire country, through a carefully-calibrated advertising and marketing strategy.
I promise you; I've been watching these developments for over two decades. I've studied resistance movements in Latin America, Europe, Asia. I've been thinking about these things long and hard...
First, this can be done, fairly easily. Also, don't worry about widespread approval from the population at this point. All we need to get started is a few people. If done correctly, then it will turn into hundreds, then thousands, then millions.
Today there are all kinds of news about new oppressive laws pushed by corporations being enacted in rapid-fire mode, more scandals about corrupt bankers being granted huge salaries and bonuses by their bagman in the Treasury, on and on. Folks, the system is rigged. We can't do this only through the electoral system.
Let's do a pilot project. Let's pick a city and develop a media campaign for an event meant to educate people. For inspiration, I suggest people watch the PBS American Experience documentary, THE ABOLITIONISTS.
Abolitionist allies Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, Harriet Beecher Stowe, John Brown and Angelina Grimké turned a despised fringe movement against chattel slavery into a force that literally changed the nation.
We all know the system is broken. We can once again launch a movement to change the nation.
I'm not content with just reporting on the latest outrage perpetrated by the Republicans, Democrats on the take, the Justice Department, the Tea Party, Gun-nuts, etc.
I want to go on the offense; I want to do something meaningful.
I need a few brave souls... I need three or four people to start a prototype executive committee. I need a few people to start a financial/treasury committee.
We'll come up with the agenda for the nationwide educational tour, and then we'll develop a very powerful, modern, professional, appealing advertising and marketing campaign, and get going.
I've already been contacted by very impressive people; people with high levels of education; people who have been in corporate as executives; people in advertising, and marketing, and education.

He explains the situation very succinctly! But yes, it can get better, if we all join forces.
