Well the "Executive" was back at again today. This time doing his "storm-trooping" gig in Halls of Congress.
Undeterred, the purveyors of common sense and the keepers justice for the least of us, spoke out against the latest hollow NRA arguments ...
“My problem with background checks is you’re never going to get criminals to go through universal background checks,” LaPierre said.Dick Durbin, Wayne LaPierre Debate Background Checks At Senate Gun Violence Hearing (Video) -- by Paige Lavender, huffingtonpost -- 01/30/2013
“We don’t even prosecute anybody right now that goes through the system we have,” LaPierre continued. “None of it makes any sense in the real world.”
[...]Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) interjected that background checks would mean "criminals won't go to purchase the guns, because there will be a background check! We'll stop them from the original purchase." Addressing LaPierre, Durbin said, "You missed that point completely!"
As the audience began to cheer, LaPierre interrupted Durbin, "Senator, I think you missed the point!" As tensions grew higher, committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) was forced to bang his gavel and call for order.
That reply of "common sense" was very a fitting sequel to the Emperor's edicts of just a week ago, as I hastily captured then:
The Executive Strikes Back

The main critique against Darth LaPierre then, still stands as a fitting reply today:
So Wayne, why don't we repeal the laws against Bank Robbery, and Forgery, and Fraud, and DUI too? "Criminals" don't care about those prohibitions either.
So why do we bother with legislation to curtail their illegal and harmful activities, at all?
Why have any laws at all LaPierre? Except for the Law of the Jungle, as if we were each a Law, unto ourselves? Exactly as the NRA would ultimately have it.
