Republicans in Congress are hyperventilating in their quixotic efforts to somehow find Hillary Clinton personally responsible for the tragedy in Benghazi, Libya.
According to reports, the American Consulate was attacked by a militant militia group, whose "(W)eapons...used during the attack included rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), hand grenades, AK-47 and FN F2000 NATO assault rifles, diesel canisters, mortars, and heavy machine guns and artillery mounted on gun trucks" (AP, UPI).
Republicans insist that Secretary of State Clinton possibly "knew something" in advance of the attacks and did nothing to prevent them. They cite the four Americans murdered in the attack as preventable and unnecessary.
The irony here is that many of the same Republicans who are accusing and criticizing Mrs. Clinton are also the same people who have proclaimed themselves as pro-gun/pro-NRA advocates here in the U.S.
If you are pro-gun and pro-militia, (read that pesky 2nd Amendment for reference), if you believe that anyone who wants a firearm should be allowed to own a firearm, no matter what size, type, or amount, if you believe that Americans have the right to own weapons for the eventuality of having to fight back a tyrannical government, then why is Hillary Clinton to blame for what happened in Libya?
A group of Libyan citizens formed an ad-hoc militia group, and armed with their personal weapons, fought against what they perceived as a tyrannical government. Republicans should be overjoyed! This is your fantasy realized!
But now you want to blame a politician for the violence ~ which is yet another stunning piece of irony since you don't want to blame any pro-gun advocates in America, politicians or otherwise, for the violence here. (And let's not forget that it was you who cut security funding for worldwide American embassies and consulates!)
If you truly want to assess blame for violent attacks, then look in the mirror and declare yourselves culpable of enabling and inflaming a culture of violence that eliminates American citizens from their own land on an hourly basis.
If you want justice, then begin with our problems at home.
If you believe that murders are preventable and unnecessary, stop them here!
Do not try to be truth-seekers with your right eye shut.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
