Wow!  Rahm Emanuel is endorsing a vegan diet!  So that's where he gets all his energy to be so blatantly combative and in your face.   Not only is the Mayor of Chicago eating less meat but now he's trying to get the residents of his city to follow his lead.

Emanuel explains that this diet could go a long way to helping reduce the city's obesity rate. Statistics for Chicago are hard to come by, but the obesity rate in Illinois has been rising and currently stands at 27.7 percent, the 23rd-highest of any state.

Back when Emanuel was on President Obama's staff, he was notorious for confronting unruly lawmakers in the showers at the Congressional gym and berating them until he got his way. [..]

Could it be that Emanuel is being influenced by his former boss President Bill Clinton?  We all remember when Clinton had to be rushed into surgery for a triple bypass.  Well, he's doing quite well now and attributing his wellness to his vegan diet.

Not only does eliminating meat improve your health but it is the single most important way to reduce your carbon footprint (pdf) to help in mitigating climate change.

A win win for your health, our planet and future generations.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
