Pipe Smoking

It all began with Literature.

There was this guy

sherlock pipe

Then there was this guy

Jrr Tolkien pipe

Who, of course, created these guys

I have a small collection including my 100 yr old Briar that was my Grandfathers.  But, now I have this.

I used a credit card to Altinok Pipes in Istanbul, Turkey to get it.  Visa Fraud Detection gave me a ring to discuss.  Talk about risk factor.

Please forgo the diatribes.  Yes, I have to smoke outside on the porch and it is friggin cold out there.

Thought some might be interested regardless of pipeweed of choice.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

and I loved the aroma. I always wanted to smoke a pipe but got hooked on cigarettes and then had to quit that so no more tobacco for me but I'm still in love with the idea.

And those are beautiful pipes. Love your pictures.

I bought an old Chinese brass opium pipe set at a garage sale cheap. It had a string so it could be worn around the neck and was engraved with heavenly scenes.

I cleared a hundred bucks when I sold it and really wish that I had taken a pic of it.

I smoke inside my home and others are welcome to do so.  Haven't been able to quit although I'd love to.

Mark Twain was right when he said quitting smoking was easy.  He added that he had done it thousands of times.

    Smokers Forums

Tons of great folks, most here in the USA, but obviously an international forum, very civil and highly moderated.

Before anyone here gets too crazy, of course there are some potential physical issues with any type of smoking, but conversely, many moderate pipe smokers find it relaxing, much like meditation, and it's unclear if nicotine is significantly more or less dangerous than many prescription drugs designed to combat anxiety and stress...

Relaxing with a nice bowl of something interesting and a book is just a great, great way to unwind.
