This is a viral video, or just becoming one. Kai the homeless hitchhiker, skateboarding, surfer guy, saves a woman from a man who had just rammed a PG&E employee.
After saying that he had in the past raped a fourteen year old in the Virgin Islands, the man said that he came to realize that he was Jesus Christ and then hit a guy because he black, according to a witnesses. He then got out of the car and attacked a woman who was trying to help him.
This is where Kai came to the rescue.
Turns out no one has life-threatening injuries and the man is in custody.
Kai tells the story in this first unedited 6:00 video. To me, the most amazing part isn't the story, it's what Kai says in the beginning of the interview:
"Before I say anything else I want to say no matter what you done you deserve
respect. Even if you make mistakes, you lovable. And it doesn't matter your
looks, skills, or age, or size, or anything, you're worthwhile. No one can ever
take that away from you."
At the end of the video Kai says that, "I don't have any family, as far as anybody is concerned that I grew up with, I'm already dead. So, whatever."
These two statements bookending the whole thing say so much.
Here's the video.
Kai seemed like such a character that I wasn't quite sure this was real. Based on five minutes of googling, it appears so.
Here is another report, including an interview with the woman who was attacked.
Straight outta dogtown. I hope he gets to surf Mavericks.
