I just finished watching this amazing show on USA. NFL Characters Unite. They take NFL players that have had "issues" in their lives and pair them with kids that are living those same problems. One segment stood out to me. Justin Tuck is a New York Giant. He is literally twice the size of me. A huge dude. Maybe 6'5 and 260 pounds of muscle.
Funny thing as a kid he was bullied.
I often wonder if folks know what it was liked to be bullied 24/7.
A few years ago my parents, and I was in my 30s, we went back to the town I grew up in (Leavenworth, KS.)
It brought back vivid memories for me. Ones I have never told my parents about.
I walked the ally, even a yard or two. My parents were like what is going on?
I explained that this was the path, or the way I ran home from school each day, cause most days I was bullied, folks wanted a fight. I didn't and ran, I ran ......
I was like 8.
I had some speech issues. I was a "new" guy in the area (military brat). I was "small."
I ran and ran to get away and I traced that path when we went back.
