5 days a week, after the wife heads off to work and the grandkids are off to school I get the TV all to myself. In earlier times I was left with Morning Joe, or GMA/Rachel Ray/Local show called "Bridge Street" (all ABC) and the usual history channel offerings along with tons of comercials for aging prostate cures, Viagra, Stonedine pots and pans and of course how could we forget Phil Swift and Flex seal!
Then one day, Current TV picked up Bill Press and Stephanie Miller...It was like a magnificent dawn and a blast of fresh air! WOW! What an improvement!
Now that my diseased carcass has placed further limits on what I can do beyond tinkering with an ancient steam engine big enough we find out to run not only the slabbing saw, but the finishing saw AND the planer station! That's why this beast was so damn big, this thing ran a complete mill, not just a portable slab saw station. I wondered why a portable station would need a 2 and 1/2 ton flywheel...it would if it were the prime mover for a whole mill. We are making progress slowly with the engine. Let's jump for more on this.
You can imagine the recent hooting and eye rolling when Bill O'Really opened his windy hole to pontificate about how solar energy is not feasible in America as (wait for it!) Germany is sunnier than we are! The solar panel guys called me up to tell me about it! Then Stephanie had Bill called out on her "Right Wing World" segment and did Jim Ward have a few choice things to say. I laughed a little and can see bumpkins from here to Little Rock to Port Saint Joe left not knowing what to believe after Bill's whopper.
Anyway, Stephanie Miller has helpd me a lot with dealing with my cancer, by taking my mind off the problem and for that I want to thank her so much! Even if the relief is very temporary.
Whether it is providing a hilarious send up of politics and Republican tomfoolery, or having Judy Tenuda reminding us that "It could happen!" Or running gags with Chris and Jackie and tales of her "lonely" life which sounds pretty damn active to me, considering that Steph is the same age as president Obama more or less.
Lee Papa, John Fugelsang, Hal Sparks, Karl Fritch, and on and on, various congress people and calls from all over make this show a blast to listen to and I DVR it.
I can't seem to get to a call to go through, so I will say it here....Steph, thanks for a great show, it helps an old man with cancer cope for another day. I hope Al Jazeera leaves the US news lineup alone and simply picks up current and puts it's news segments in during the day, because Current has what is likely the best news presentations this side of MSNBC. Oh, and please have more Jackie educating us about the Affordable Care Act.
There, I have made my panegyric for Stephanie Miller, and if you don't get Current, find a supplier that does carry it.
And when confronted by anti-Obama types emember to raise your fist and shout "Solar Power!" That should confuse them.
