Daily Kos Radio's Kagro in the Morning show podcasts are now available through iTunes.

I don't know what happened last night. I was putting the kids to bed. All I know is, Obama said something about raising the minimum wage to $9, and Marco Rubio started praying to Agua Buddha, and the Internet exploded.

In other news, the full Senate gets started on the debate on the Hagel nomination today. And the House takes up the postponed vote on the Hydropower Regulatory Efficiency Act. Nobody really cares about that, but lol hydroanything today!

We're LIVE at 9 a.m. ET with Kagro in the Morning, thanks to

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.

The President also made gains on some of the most current and pressing issues—making a 9-point gain on trust to handle gun violence, a 9-point gain on trust to handle Medicare and Social Security, and a 9-point gain on looking out for the interests of women.

Importantly, voters are much more optimistic about President Obama and his agenda than they were even a few months ago.

One of the best parts of the speech was in the beginning when Obama turned to Biden behind him and said, "This is a big effing deal, Joe. ... Hey, who's your friend?"

“Hadiya’s parents, Nat and Cleo, are in this chamber tonight, along with more than two dozen Americans whose lives have been torn apart by gun violence,” Obama said, referring to the couple, who had sat stoically through the speech. “They deserve a vote.”

The lawmakers turned toward where they sat, paying respect, and Democrats began chant of “vote, vote!”

Obama also singled out former Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was sitting among the First Lady’s guests. “Gabby Giffords deserves a vote,” he thundered. The chant spread.

I'm from Newtown. We deserve a vote.

Each school day morning I put on Kagro in the Morning, just as we are about to go out to the workshop to wait for the school bus. I can listen on the radio there.

    This morning my 10-year-old asked:

"Are you putting the birds on?"

    She is paying attention :)

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

I doubt the GOOPS will welcome the end of their precious 'state of emergency' WoT. They'll
probably use it as an article of impeachment.
I would guess the best solution is is simply to reduce the number of drone strikes to maybe 20 per year and everybody will forget about this(moderation in all things) but keep drones for surveillance which few object to.
No way should Congress be in the position to direct the military.
I don't trust courts of whatever kind to do the right thing,
    especially in high impact cases.
