At the very start he pulls what I call the immigration card. That he loves this country so much cause he is an immigrant and this nation afforded his family great benefits. Then he goes on to say we should believe what he believes.
Oh I got a huge issue with this and it needs to stop. If you don't want to hear a person cuss a lot don't follow me below the fold cause this pisses me off to the point it is hard to be polite. Going to rant for a few ....
Fuck you! I am an immigrant. In 1862 my family members didn't like Scotland so they got on a boat and came here. They didn't have any "papers" or a "Green Card." They just showed up one day and said "hey can we come in?" They were welcomed! My great, great grandfather who first came here didn't have to wait a generation to make his mark. He was elected as a Judge before he passed away.
My family members have been doctors, teachers, professors, we have built bridges. We have fought in most wars.
Heck every family member of mine, including every women since we got here has gone to college.
This nation has been nothing but amazing to us.
But Marco don't fucking play the immigrant card with me.
I don't care that a person might have walked across the desert and into the US from Mexico. Or that a person from Asia or Africa overstayed their Visa. I don't fucking care. I want them to have the same opportunity I had. Honestly I want to go hug them and welcome them here.
Also lets not forget where Rubio's family immigrated from. Does anybody recall our current Cuban policy, what is not so nicely known as "wet foot, dry foot?"
The wet foot, dry foot policy is the name given to a consequence of the 1995 revision of the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966 that says, essentially, that anyone who fled Cuba and got into the United States would be allowed to pursue residency a year later. After talks with the Cuban government, the Clinton administration came to an agreement with Cuba that it would stop admitting people found at sea. Since then, in what has become known as the "wet foot, dry foot" policy, a Cuban caught on the waters between the two nations (i.e., with "wet feet") would summarily be sent home or to a third country. One who makes it to shore ("dry feet") gets a chance to remain in the United States, and later would qualify for expedited "legal permanent resident" status and, eventually, U.S. citizenship.
I bet there are more than a few immigrants in our nation that wish they were treated the same.
There is a story I often tell to folks that seem against immigration, cause I honestly think the problems we have with immigration here are racist. I am a white Anglo-Saxon male. If I live a long time white males in this nation will become a minority. I could care less. I don't need people that look like me running everything to live my life. Feel special. I tend end with I hope those people that don't look like me treat me with more respect then they have been treated by people like myself!
Don't play the immigrant card Rubio, it doesn't or shouldn't work.
