Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

FloridaSNMom and Caedy are moving and offline until Monday-ish.

EDITED TO ADD:  Got a text from FloridaSNMom - they've arrived safely at their new home

"Made it to new house fine - will have pics on return. For pony!"
Here are more pics of Itzl in the melting snow.

Add keywords that describe this diary. Separate multiple keywords with commas.
Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

  •  More about Itzl ~ w/pics! (12+ / 0-)

Snow melts, but not Itzl. Perfection!

  •  Great pics! (11+ / 0-)

Of course, you'll skritch Itzl for me, yes?

I think that for the duration of the Spring Semester I'll be a four-day participant here at the GOS, since Tuesday is a VERY long day. Monday and Wednesday, I'm working mostly on drafts; there's Top Comments and there's here.

    That said, four diaries forthcoming.

Tomorrow, Thursday Classical Music.  Part II of my survey of the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Friday, US since 1865. A takedown of the Dawes Severalty Act, another form of Indian removal.

Sunday. I have Top Comments, and I've already started to take pictures of my quilt.

Tuesday, LGBT Literature for Readers and Book Lovers. A novel from 1950.  That we do Monday morning and queue for 5 AM Pacific.

  •  mornin' all; still working to get computer (10+ / 0-)

back to normal after virus wiped out all my apps, and from diagnostic virus scans dropped some nasty relics in my hard drive.  However scans are now coming up clean.

Going to try to finish sword rack this weekend; really interested in seeing if I am able to do it or if I will give out again.  What I get for trying to save $50 bucks but so far, it looks as good as any commercial rack and is made out of real wood (albeit white pine; I am thinking about trying other woods for the other racks)

Also owe daughter and granddaughter a new shelf.  I went crazy at an auction (since they are both fanatics about Titanic) and bought them a 50 inch long wood replica.

  •  Happy Valentine's Day to Noddy, Itzl & Xoco! (10+ / 0-)

we don't do much for Valentine's here, nor most of the other "commercial" days, but have no problem with folks who do follow them, 8-)

teh DH finished my chair tonight... I got a fairly nice small office chair a couple of years ago, very nice soft (plastic fake leather) surface had completely broken down, so about a week ago he pulled out one of the leather stashes and "re-upholstered" the whole chair! back, seat, arm pads. the leather certainly ought to last longer than another set of plastic would!

unfortunately the job used up the biggest deerhide we had and he still had to piece it severely. he's got steampunk ideas for using some of the rest, but nothing specific so far.

we're treading a delicate line these days about whether to do projects to use up materials so they don't have to be moved, OR not taking the time away from moving at this point. We have SO MUCH STUFF! and lots of it is "handyman's stash" that we probably will use in the future, so we don't want to dump it unnecessarily. sigh.

    •  Huh - I'd forgotten it (7+ / 0-)

      was Valentine's Day...

Thank you and right back at you!

I know how you feel - I have a lot of handyman things, and art supplies, and sewing supplies, and as a sometimes chef for large events, a lot of cooking supplies that I can't dump because I will need them.

And then I have a few heirlooms that will eventually go to my children or theirs, like a bierstein set from the mid-1800's - not valuable because glassware is never valuable - but historically significant to the family. And some antique tea sets also dating back to the early to mid 1800's - not valuable, but with family significance.

Those will remain on display and be the last things I pack to "set" the house for sale.

I thought tomorrow was Valentine's Day.

We got about 3 feet of snow in Northern New Hampshire last week and we're supposed to get even more. It hasn't melted yet. The skiers must be very happy!

I don't go out unless absolutely necessary. It's too icy. Even with ice treads on my shoes.

Happy Valentine's Day To You Noddy, Itzl and Xoco

Practicing with the kids on their solos again this a.m.  Except for the physical pain of sitting on the piano bench for three hours, it's a pretty good gig this year.  Only two of 15 kids aren't able to play a discernible tune. Those are psychically painful, but mercifully short.  :-)

Love the Itzl pics.  They are a perfect start for this Valentine's Day!

It rained last night, and it's cooler today.  Yay.  It was 89 yesterday.  Too hot for me.

Going shopping today, and other stuff.

    Have a happy valentine's day.

I am a work in progress. Still.

home for lunch and brought roses.  This morning I surprised him with sugar free candy, which he loves.

I will be enjoying the work of prepping taxes again today, but the sun is shining for the time being, and I set myself up so I could look out the window as I add things up.

Have a sweetheart of a day, everyone!

Itzl does look quite charming in his snow ensemble, esp his booties.  One of my officemates has some in red for her shih tzu and matching color nylon, rain and snow repellent "puff" jacket.  Also stylish.

I work in a large company and they did up our commons area with candy, cards and someone was even spinning cotton candy!  I took some candy but am not a fan of cotton candy.

We had rain in NYC last night - not the snow predicted - and today we have dry sidewalks and glorious sunshine.  The sun gives me hope, makes me smile.
