After watching the Forward on Climate rally on c-span my wife and I took off on a rainy and cold day for the rally in Seattle. Last I'd heard there was about 250 people expected. Turns out we were pleasantly surprised. The images speak for themselves. It was a great day for climate sanity in the Great Northwest.
The crowd I estimated at between 350 to 400 people.
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn was introduced as the local government hero being on the forefront of the fight to keep 18 coal trains from passing through Seattle every day if the Cherry Point shipment facility is built in Bellingham.
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn
We had the people's train.
"Trains are for people not coal."
We had (use your imagination) the polar bear.
This guy really freaked out the dogs in the crowd!
There were great signs everywhere.
And the march after all the speeches stretched in either direction as far as the eye could see.
The festive march with music and chant!
It was a
GREAT day!
It was a great day!
And on our walk back from the rally this is what we saw.
A reminder of the work ahead of us and the vigilance we must maintain to accomplish our goals!
