Gone too soon.
It looks like she killed herself with a gun.
I didn't know Mindy McCready personally. I only knew her through her music. I liked it.
I liked it a lot. So, finding news stories of her death are saddening. Then, I find out it was due to a suspected self inflicted gun shot death. Would she have killed herself in a different manner if her guns were removed from her home?
I guess we'll never know.
We talk about removing guns from people who shouldn't have them?
BUNK! We have too little in resources that would allow us to remove guns from dangerous people. We have too many people who "know someone" who would get them a pass due to being connected. We have too many people focused upon putting a gun in every person's hand and too few seeing a country where everyone having a gun holstered to their hip is a straight line to gun violence on a broad scale.
The NRA would like guns to be a back seat in Mindy McCready's death.
It looks like a self inflicted gun shot wound.
1.Did law enforcement hound her in the death of her boyfriend, David Wilson.
2. Did law enforcement "cause" a suicide?
3. Since her children were removed from her care, why weren't guns removed from her possession as well?
4. How didn't the "authorities" not know Mindy McCready was "at risk"?
I can't entirely blame the Powers That Be as much as I'd like to for Ms.McCready's death. In order to have people's guns removed you have to approach a judge with good information. My problem is with the prosecutors and child services personnel who didn't know McCready owned guns. That's insane.
Like many celebrities, Ms.McCready lived in a fish bowl. She had media exposure similar to that of Lindsey Lohan and Brittany Spears. I find it interesting that Charlie Sheen lost all of his guns, but Mindy McCready didn't. Different states, different laws is the likely explanation, but since she lived in a gun friendly state, I'd think the child protective services would have, not only broached the subject, but would have done an in depth investigation as to gun ownership.
How long must we wait?
How many people need to die?
When do we get common sense gun laws?
Enforcement isn't enough
When do we get a common sense gun policy?
RIP Mindy McCready.
I hope your death does it's part to shine the way to sane gun policy.
