Not a well formed diary tonight, but feel the need to write something again.

First, I stumbled across an item on the Baltimore Sun's site.  The article reviews Dr. Carson's appearance on Fox News, arising from his remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast.  I had not heard anything about the event, nor the remarks, so I was surprised at the results from Googling Dr. Carson.

Second, I finally calmed down enough to send an email to my Representative; my ire has grown through the week as we all get used to the idea of the upcoming furloughs.  We're not sure how the DoD will administer them, but they will be more irritating because they're so unnecessary.  I did ask him to think on three points regarding his role in the problem.  But, in the wisdom of the stairs, I failed to ask him if he was interested in governing or just destroying.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  i am in awe of Dr Carson's accomplishments (0+ / 0-)

and talents as a surgeon... but highly disagree w/ his political views.  But Faux News will prop him up as some sort of flat-tax savior ... maybe because of his race?? i dunno.

    Faux News ruined my state

    •  Might be the first time that's ever happened. nt (0+ / 0-)
    •  His speech (0+ / 0-)

only shows us that genius in one area does not guarantee genius in all  areas. As a black man... and as an ordained minister in the same denomination as Dr. Carson (he and I are both ordained as Elders in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and our paths cross several times a year...I would not say I know him well but we have more than made each other's acquaintance)  , his expressed opinions were more than a little disappointing as was his decision to hijack  a non-partisan prayer breakfast and make it his personal soapbox.

One would think that he would realize he is being played by the political/Christian right solely because his skin color gives them cover and allows them to play the "see? I can't be racist because some famous black guy said the same thing..." game... forgetting that for the entirety of his life the party of angry white guys has built it's foundation on getting white folks to believe the negative stereotypes and bigotry about people that look like Dr. Carson... and once his 15 minutes is up and they feel they don't need him anymore he will find himself out in the cold with Michael Steele... because at the end of the day... black people... ALL black people... are the problem to those whose water he is foolish enough to carry and the same ones lauding him now are the ones who would assume he only made it to med school because of affirmative action and who would insist that he has accomplished nothing.

At 61, he is old enough to know better.

Fear doesn't just breed incomprehension. It also breeds a spiteful, resentful hate of anyone and everyone who is in any way different from you.

  •  Well, you correct it's not well formed, (0+ / 0-)

but you should consider the timeline and what  top-level guidance was given before blaming agencies for sequester decisions.
