I will admit I was slow on the uptake with them. The last day or so in my free time they are all I can watch.

Let me explain ...

It was 1989. I was going to a large, maybe 17,000 person state college. I was nominated for Home Coming King by this panel of teachers. Now I had almost a 4.0. I did a lot of community work. But most days I was partying my balls to the wall. You can do all those things BTW.

I am just so happy we didn't have cell phones cameras at that time, cause well ......

Follow me below the fold for some more thoughts.

So my first campaign to be "king."

Who what we did.

Long steel fence in front of where I lived, we used styrofoam cups to promote events (yeah, not so good).

If you came to the event you had to say, "Tommy is King, Tommy is King, Tommy is King" and then hold up three fingers. There is a third or III after my name. You got a free beer.

I won running away .....

But my point if not clear is we had fun with this. I mean we were sitting around a bong wondering how to influence people. There were buttons on campus saying "Say It Three Times." Neat stuff.

I can't even imagine if we had YouTube and other stuff to play with what we would have done.

I might be 43, but this is a darn neat time we live in. Have fun folks! Play. Get adventurous. You are only young once.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
