I'm really encouraged. With two months to plan, organize and prepare and with the enthusiastic response we have received so far about the Asheville meet up, I think we're on a roll. Thanks to all who have signed up!
Late April will be gorgeous here with a wide variety of flowers blooming, crisp mountain air, warm days and cool nights. The location, The Bywater, Asheville's DFH political hotspot, will hopefully be a perfect place for us. There is a huge outdoor area that feels like a state park on the river. If you want, you can put in up river and float down to The Bywater, stow your canoe or raft and come on into the place. It is so kid and dog friendly that on a nice weekend afternoon you might see roving bands of kids, kind of like a festival. Of course there is corn hole, horse shoes and many state park style grills. And it's a beautiful location. The Director, cast and crew hung out there a lot during filming of Hunger Games and its been voted best club in Asheville two years running. So there's your tease to make you want to come. disclaimer: it's my best friend's place and I did all the stucco inside and all the chain saw work on the river :)
This is the second of a DKos Asheville open thread series that davehouck and I will try to be delivering every Saturday morning. We would like it to become a hub for talking about our 4/20 meet up to help make this great. So please come say hi, let's talk about food, lets talk about what you would like to see at the gathering, and what you would like to see us all get out of this opportunity. And for those not coming, (I know, you want to but you live in Alaska) ideas are always welcome.
We also hope this series unites us locally and regionally here on Daily Kos. DKos Asheville could give us all a better sense of connection if nothing else. I was putting up yard signs for Heath against Taylor but never made the Kos connection with any of you locally. And that's a shame. I think we can do a better job of leveraging our orange passion for progressive politics to help elect more and better Democrats. And that's the mission, right?
