All finishers and supporters can join us for a fun-filled finish-line bash  sponsored by Recreation Services, Department of Athletics, and our

The 2013 Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run and Walk scheduled for Saturday, April 13. Racers are challenged to  beat Boise State University head football coach Chris Petersen to the finish line while benefiting student scholarships.

Last year, there were 2,515 participants with 1,062 beating Coach Pete. The race started in front of the recreation center and ended inside Bronco Stadium.  Coach Pete donated $5,310 to the general scholarship fund for Boise State students, according to KTVB.

The family-friendly event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Boise State Recreation Center. The three-mile race winds through campus, along the Boise City Greenbelt and finishes at Bronco Stadium.

Registration through April 7 is $15 for Boise State students and children 10 and under, and $25 general. A family of five may register for $60. Register online at www.imathlete.com/events/beatpetefunrunwalk.

David Leisten is from Boise, and he told KBOI that it is definitely worth taking part in the race.

"It's nice to get up early and feel like you're doing some good," Leisten says . "Everyone is really happy and it's fun."
Late registration is $20, $30 and $80 and will be accepted April 8-11 on site only. The first 3,000 registered participants will receive a T-shirt, donated by the United Dairymen of Idaho.

The race will be held on the same day as the annual Bronco Football Spring Game. The Spring Game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Bronco Stadium. All race participants will receive free admission to the Spring Game by showing their race bib or number.

Participants are encouraged to sign up early and help raise funds for Boise State’s need-based scholarship fund. To date, the Beat Coach Pete Scholarship  Run/Walk has raised more than $138,000 in emergency funding scholarships.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
