Guysssss, it's just English! It's not that important! English always changes! We don't need to really know what words mean; they mean whatever we want them too! Screw you guys and your definitions! For example...

'Recession' doesn't just mean when GDP growth is negative for two consecutive quarters or more. It means any time I'm not happy with the economy for an unclear amount of time! My stuff is in a recession right now because I had to replace my car battery yesterday!

Same thing, Depression doesn't mean 'A severe and prolonged downturn in economic activity.' Psha! It just means 'long enough for me to feel like it wasn't as good as it was in the 90's!!!!

I have strong Scotch-Irish blood running through my veins. Doesn't matter that my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were born stateside...I'm an IMMIGRANT dammit because at some point someone who was a distant relative of mine wasn't born here! And I get whatever romance comes with the word 'immigrant' and solidarity with people who really did cross the border yesterday...because I have SOOO much in common with them and it wouldn't piss them off at all for me to say 'oh yah bro i feel you, i'm an immigrant too.'

I don't care that an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization is actually the definition of Fascism. I say it's anything and anyone that has authority to say or do something I don't like! Fight the power! Fuck Fascism! Fuck you too dad, you fascist! I REFUSE TO EAT MY BROCCOLI!

Oh, and don't get me started on Socialist. Socialism doesn't just mean any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. It means any time any of us work together! Baseball and football is socialism! School is socialist! Power companies are socialist! Yeeaaa!!!!!

And don't even get me started on Communist. Making sure everyone has healthcare is Communism because Stalin. I think we can just leave it there.

So don't you DARE tell me 'actually, that word doesn't mean what you think it means' or 'that word actually doesn't mean what you're implying it does.' It's ENGLISH dammit, used by the country I immigrated into and that is being taken over by communifascistsocialists, and words mean what I want!!!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
