Short diary.
Here in the left-wing blogosphere, we refer to Washington insiders--contemptuously!--as members of the Village. An inbred society of self-congratulatory group-thinkers, one of whose most contemptible manifestations is the DC Press Corps.
Or, as Steven Colbert so brilliantly was the first to describe them, "stenographers."
Yet, they are a steno pool with price and a certain sense of entitlement to respect for being Village Members In Good Standing.
Hence, Woodward feels ruffled, and there is a kerfuffle. But, in the light of day, there is now regret by the right that they took Woodward at his word that he was "threatened" by the White House. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/...
For those of you who have long memories, there has not been a crisis like this in the Village Press Corps since.....10 days ago. Over Tiger Woods. http://www.politico.com/...
