Today Reason magazine ran a story called The Most Openly and Transparently Thin-Skinned Administration in History. Go ahead and read it. It is a whiny, pouty list of ways the Obama administration has been mean to the media, because the Obama administration is “thin skinned”.
That appellation, thin skinned Obama, seemed awfully familiar. I wonder if this is the article I was thinking about, where the notoriously even handed Gary Bauer (snark) sneered:
“Beneath Barack Obama’s well-cultivated image as a supernaturally cool, calm and collected president lies a very different reality: an irritable, hyper-sensitive and bitter man who’s quick to attack those who question him or his agenda.”
More stupid if you read on:
Or maybe it is this gem from our friends at Breitbart who twist themselves into pretzels trying to provide more reason for Obama to “prove” their point:
“Obama often complains about the concept of “false balance.” Obama believes that reporters often give “equal weight to both sides of an argument when one side is factually incorrect” and, according to his advisers, “frequently cites the coverage of health care and the stimulus package as examples” of this “false balance.” In Obama's mind, the mainstream media, which have neglected issues like Solyndra, Fast and Furious, and other Obama administration scandals and boondoggles, was unfair to him when they have written about Obamacare”.
Peter Wehner, whoever the heck he is, puts it in very gentle terms:
“In Obama's eyes, he is always the aggrieved, always the violated, always the victim of some injustice. He is America's virtuous and valorous hero, a man of unusually pure motives and uncommon wisdom, under assault by the forces of darkness.”
Want more? In 2009, a writer named
Schmuhl
quoted Obama from several interviews where he made statements like:
"I do think part of what's different today is that the 24-hour news cycle and cable television and blogs and all this, they focus on the most extreme elements on both sides. They can't get enough of conflict, it's catnip to the media right now. And so the easiest way to get 15 minutes of fame is to be rude to somebody. In that environment I think it makes it more difficult for us to solve the problems that the American people sent us here to solve."
He admits that these are “more descriptive than combative”, but thinks it is a trick.
On twitchy, they posted a set of insults called #things that offend Obama to prove Obama is thin skinned. A personal favorite:
#ThingsThatOffendObama: Our Founding Fathers and that thing that they wrote that he always forgets about... uhh... uhh... the Constitution.
Thin skinned? Really? After being accused daily of being: Anti-American, a socialist, Muslim, Kenyan, imposter, empty suit, dictator; who is thin skinned, angry, dismissive, weak, aggressive, passive, detached, cool, histrionic; who wants to take your guns, annihilate Republicans, destroy America, send us into civil war, get everyone to hate rich people, give your money to people who refuse to work- after all that, has he lashed out, raged, taken revenge? No, he has kept trying to negotiate, persuade, find solutions. Thin skinned? I think not.
