The department of Justice caught an american company, Avant Healthcare discriminating against Americans on an american job portal for hundreds of federal job openings across America.
CHICAGO (February 20, 2013)--The Department of Justice (DOJ) reached a settlement with Avant Healthcare, a federal government contractor, for posting over 100 discriminatory want ads excluding Americans, as a result of a tip sent by Bright Future Jobs. Avant’s ads, posted on an American job portal, targeted foreign nationals for job openings in the U.S. and contained offers of H1-b visas and green cards.
Here is one of hundreds of examples found and presented to the Department of Justice:
Avant Healthcare advertised openings in Albuquerque, NM with the title, "Seeking Green Card/Visa?"
Another job ad in Burlington, VT states "Physical Therapist - Visa Sponsored!"
In a third ad, the message is unmistakable, "Seeking Foreign Trained PT"--for a job in Chicago, IL!
Unfortunately, while Avant had to pull the ads, they have not stopped their actions. The good news is that now, they have the burden of tossing the many U.S. applicants from their applicant in-box. Some U.S. workers may have a shot at some of these U.S. jobs.
In the case above, label 2. represents companies such as Avant, with exclusive small disadvantaged, woman or minority owned business setaside contracts for the federal government. The federal government would be employer labeled 3.
Is anyone still wondering why so many our college educated children, spouses, neighbors and friends are unemployed or finding it hard to find or change jobs?
