Welcome to bookchat where you can talk about anything...books, plays, essays, and books on tape. You don’t have to be reading a book to come in, sit down, and chat with us.
It is that time of year where I live that the winter seems to have dragged on too long and the fantasy of retreating with good books to a desert isle grabs the imagination. In past diaries I have asked for ten favorite books or movies that you would take along with a hammock and an assortment of exotic drinks. It is my own fault that I can’t stick to ten only and start including series or an author’s whole set of work. I always seem to list the same books, too, starting with all of Shakespeare.
I like to think that all of us having staked out a place on the beach in the shade of a big umbrella would share our books so we would not have to panic about leaving some books behind. Many of you with various kinds of e-readers would smile at those of us staggering down to the beach with armloads of tomes.
My winter tired brain rejoices at the thought of the beach, a warm breeze, the sound of waves, and cold drinks as I read an old favorite story.
