Tom Connors, a Canadian music icon died yesterday at his home in Halton Hills, Ontario. He was noted for a purely Canadian style of music that sometimes only Canadian's can appreciate. "The Hockey Song' is like an anthem and songs such as "Sudbury Saturday Night" and "Bud the Spud" captured Canada and its people better than the work of any other Canadian artist. He was the recipient of many Juno awards, the Governor General's medal and appeared on a Canadian postage stamp.

Americans had Woody Guthrie. We had Stompin Tom. I met him and played with him once. The whole country will miss him.
