The NRA is always whining about how gun laws penalize "responsible gun owners" while doing nothing to deter "real criminals".
OK then, let's deal with "irresponsible gun owners" who have no business owning or possessing a firearm.
Under the IGOA anyone who:
- Shoots someone, including themselves, whether accidentally or intentionally;
- Discharges a firearm, accidentally or intentionally, in a manner that endangers themselves and/or bystanders;
- Fails to properly secure a firearm and/or ammunition so that children are denied access to it;
- Forgets they were carrying a firearm, leaving it in any public location;
- Improperly stores ammunition so that the ammunition discharges in any manner;
Shall have their 2nd Amendment right to own and/or possess a firearm revoked for life.
My view is that once you have shot yourself in the leg while "cleaning your gun", you have demonstrated that you are not someone who can handle a firearm responsibly.
