I left work at 5 pm. I got home at 5:45 pm.
I walked into my community's polling place at 5:50 pm, talked with a volunteer, signed my name, voted, and was about to leave and go home when it dawned on me that I was alone.
I decided to postpone my leaving until the next voter arrived. After a minute or so, I took out my phone and started the stop watch.
My stop watch read 9 minutes 18 seconds when the next voter walked in and I stopped the timer. It must have been close to 20 minutes that I was the only voter in my polling place. 20 minutes!
Alone for 20 minutes. In one of the largest cities in America, I was the only voter in my polling place for 20 minutes, two hours before the polls closed.
I cannot stress enough how uncomfortable and incredulous I was feeling.
