As the front page details the tribulations of sequester on the working and corporate classes here at the bottom the crisis is much more alarming.
Yesterday afternoon several new wanderers entered my neighborhood. I know they are wanderers because their clothes are ill fitting and out dated and the disposable grocers bags they carry are well worn and carried as if they carried all their possessions. These wanderers all spoke to themselves or inanimate objects.
One young man concerns me greatly. He is pacing the downtown grid pattern maniacally. While wearing a blanket on his head like Lawrence of Arabia and conversing with himself in a falsetto. If what I suspect happened: He was released due to no funds and now on his own isn't taking his medication if he was even given any upon discharge or still has it. Most facilities sedate they aren't supposed to but it is endemic.
Now off those meds he is in a hypomanic state.
He was still at the same pace he was last night this morning. I wonder if he slept but I doubt it. His feet are probably in ruins by now but the pain if even registering acts as a stimulant.
Now I could be wrong on the source of this influx or even this man's situation. But obviously they should not be on the street. Although the middle age guy discussing case law was interesting.
Now the police here have made a name here with their treatment of the mentally ill so there is no one to call.
