I wrote a post some time ago about Paul Ryan, more or less venting my frustration at how indifferent and willfully cruel this nasty little monster was to those he, technically, did not understand or want to.
What I did not consider is how widespread this attitude is here in the United States. If you ask the typical Swede whether it's fair they need to pay more in taxes to accommodate a healthcare system that works for everyone they'll give you a quizzical look and wonder why you would even ask that.
There is such a lack of respect, sympathy and consideration for others coming from the right side of the isle it's grotesque.
Conservatives - particularly the hardcore conservatives - love to gloat in a game of "I win, you lose."
Can't afford healthcare because you got a terminal disease? Tough luck. It's your own fault. You should have saved 4 million to manage it in your last few years.
Worked in a business that tanked thanks to Wall Street sucking our financial system dry? Your loss. You should have went to school to become a bond trader.
Lost a child in gun violence? It's your own fault. Don't take my gun away because of it.
I was reading a post on CNN about Valerie Harper and her attitude toward her eventual death. Very inspiring. Yes one obvious conservative with a mean stream found it an opportunity to be cruel to another poster who's story, to most of us, would garner sympathy:
James Butler:
I don't know about the number of days I have but, having just lost my wife to Stage 4 colon cancer in January, my attitude is "I do not fear death - it will bring me back to my beautiful wife."

Stromsboy. Obviously "Strom Thurmonds boy."
What is it about the makeup of a conservative mind that they rejoice in other people's misfortune? In my mind, this kind of vitriol is one of the ugliest things one human can do to another (sure there are worse things, but this is just plain ugly). Why has this been tolerated here? Why is indifference and self-centeredness glossed over?
It explains Paul Ryan, who doesn't give a rat's ass about anything but himself... but I don't think this was a quality of the right forever. I think this type of cruelty and indifference to others in this degree is a quality of conservatives consistently for the last 12 years, thanks to GWB decision to turn the world black and white.
Whether I'm right or wrong, people like this need to be accountable and called out for their ugliness to others. I wish I had stromboy's real name. He deserves to be publicly responsible for his words - and the conservatives, in general, for theirs.
