Certainly the Ryan budget is a severly anti-Catholic and anti-Christian document. The new Pope, of course, shares the Church's views that I see as homophobic and sexist, but he appears to understand some core principles of economic justice, and his papacy may elevate economic justice principles among Roman Catholics.
The Catholic Church long has had some good principles on war and peace, as well as on economic justice, but their views on gays and women have made it difficult for progressives. But on core economic isuses, there may be room to work together for specific outcomes. (Of course, sexism and homophobia have an economic impact also).
In any event, the man who said this could not accept the Ryan budget:
"Human rights are not only violated by terrorism, repression or assassination, but also by unfair economic structures that creates huge inequalities."
The Guardian
Very true. Under that principle, the proposed Ryan budget is a human rights violation.
